The feedback we have had has been very positive.  Offered at present within the centre as a full day workshop, it is also offered as a short presentation or half day workshop to other organisations who may request it.  Recently presented to Durham University Nightline (142 students and tutors) with great success, it is proving popular and bookings have already been taken for other helpline providers and those who may be a in position where individuals may disclose sexual abuse to them.

                                  Inner child Workshop

The “Inner Child” is a way of understanding the part of us who feels, thinks and responds as we did in childhood or as we learned in childhood. Many behaviour patterns stem from the abuse survivors suffered. These behaviour patterns are a result of ‘emotionally not growing up’. Many survivors of child and adolescent sexual abuse are trapped within their inner child, which dictates behaviours, attitudes and emotions.  Many think the inner child or emotional side is hidden and under the control of our adult self, but often this is not the case.

Ø  Deal with issues and behaviours from childhood.

Ø  Help you to understand the concept of the inner child

Ø  Explore emotional dysfunctions and the needs that may have not been met when survivors were children.

Ø  Show you  how to help survivors  to recognise why they often find themselves in uncontrollable  situations and behaviour patterns

Ø  Enable  you to support survivors and give  them an opportunity to connect with and listen to the needs of their inner child

Ø  Help and support survivors to separate the adult from the inner child so the adult can function more effectively
